Johor Tourism Praised its Citizens for Staying at Home

Domestic travel package among top prizes for spending time wisely during the MCO

Johor Tourism under its Visit Johor 2020 theme had awarded prizes to its winners of their ‘Share Your Most Interesting #StayAtHome Moment’ contest that was held during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period from 21st to 31s March. The winners of each category were announced on Tourism Johor’s Facebook page earlier and informed to attend the ceremony event that took place last Friday.

The categories include Colouring, Writing an Article & Essay Competition and each category found its 3 winners which took place at Toppen Shopping Center, Johor Bahru. The social media category “Share Your Most Interesting Moment” where the public could send in their photos to Tourism Johor’s Facebook which is also the main category where the winners won domestic holiday packages to LEGOLAND Theme Park, Desaru Coast, Angry Birds Theme Park, Skyscape and Austin Height Waterpark.

Officiated by Fizwan Dato ‘Haji Mohd Rashidi, Director of Tourism Johor, the ceremony was also attended by representatives from Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB), Johor State Education Department, MOTAC Johor and Tourism Malaysia Johor (Southern Region). Reading the speech by Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Johor’s Tourism, Youth and Sports chairman as the representative, Datuk Onn Hafiz expressed gratitude towards the citizens who have spent their time joining the contests under Tourism Johor and encouraged people to travel within Johor while also practising safety measures to continue combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

Opened with a performance by the Angry Bird Activity Parks crew, the ceremony was delighted by the presence of Tourism Johor’s mascot JOH, with Angry Birds mascots on stage. Participating domestic tourism products was also on sale during the ceremony for visitors to purchase.

This ceremony is the first physical event that Tourism Johor held since the MCO that took place on 18th March 2020 and was moved to Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) phase on 7th June 2020.
