Johor Polls: 24,751 Early Voters to Cast Ballots Today

Bernama has reported that a total of 24,751 early voters for the 16th Johor State Election is scheduled to cast their ballots today at 64 early polling centres statewide.

According to the news, the group includes 12,041 military personnel and their spouses, as well as 12,710 police personnel and their spouses.

At 8 a.m., 53 early voting centres for police and 11 for military personnel will open simultaneously.

12,067 police officers and their spouses will vote in person at designated polling locations tomorrow, while another 643 will vote by mail.

A total of 3,565 police personnel will be deployed to ensure a smooth early voting process, which includes 647 officers, 2,806 rank-and-file personnel, and 112 civilian staff.

Their responsibilities include security control at early polling stations, escorting ballot boxes, traffic control, crime-prevention patrols, operations room deployment, monitoring of strategic locations, and law enforcement in all affected areas.

Early voting centres will close in stages tomorrow, between noon and 6 p.m., depending on their location and the number of registered voters.

The following polling stations will close at noon: Buloh Kasap Police Station in Segamat, Tenang Police Station in Labis, and Bandar Penawar Police Station, which each have six to 28 voters.

Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve Unit Hall No 2 at the Johor Police Headquarters for the Stulang state constituency has the most voters (1,338), followed by the KEMAS Preschool at the 6th General Operations Force Battalion in Bakri for the Bukit Naning state constituency (927).

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) predicts morning rain in the districts of Batu Pahat, Muar, Pontian, and Tangkak, with fair weather across the state.

The Johor state election will see 172 candidates compete for 56 seats, with voting taking place on Saturday (11th July).
