The Johor Industrial Fair (JIF) 2026 officially opened on 19th August 2026 at the Austin International Convention Centre (AICC), Johor Bahru, bringing together manufacturers, technology providers, industry associations and business leaders as Johor’s manufacturing sector prepares for its next phase of growth.

Running from 19–21 August 2026, the three-day industrial exhibition is held under the theme “Advancing Johor Manufacturing – Next-Gen Ready: From Current Challenges to Future Readiness.”

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Teo Gee Lian, Secretary General of the South Johor Foundry & Engineering Industries Association (SJFEIA), Malaysia, highlighted the growing opportunities for manufacturers as more local and foreign investments flow into Johor, supported by developments such as the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

However, he noted that manufacturers are also facing increasingly complex challenges, including labour shortages, rising costs, faster delivery expectations and the rapid evolution of AI and automation.

According to Teo, businesses of the future will compete not only on price, but also on efficiency, automation, talent, technology and their ability to respond quickly to change. He emphasised that advancing Johor’s manufacturing sector requires the Government, industry associations and businesses to move together with strong policy support, closer connections between stakeholders and a willingness among industry players to embrace change.

For SMEs, Teo stressed that automation does not necessarily mean investing millions of ringgits at once. Instead, businesses can begin by identifying the real challenges within their factories and adopting the right technologies to address them.

Improvements such as reducing repetitive manual work, lowering energy costs, improving product quality and increasing production efficiency can all serve as meaningful steps towards transformation.

As Johor continues to attract major investments, Teo also highlighted the importance of ensuring that local companies benefit from this growth by becoming part of the supply chains of multinational companies investing in the state.

JIF 2026 provides a platform for manufacturers to discover new technologies, exchange industry knowledge and develop new business partnerships.

Encouraging participants to make full use of the exhibition, Teo said, “A conversation today could become tomorrow’s purchase order. A handshake today could grow into a long-term business partnership.”

The exhibition is complemented by the Johor Manufacturing Forum 2026, bringing together industry experts and stakeholders to discuss manufacturing challenges, technology readiness, practical solutions and opportunities for sustainable industrial growth.

Adding to the significance of this year’s event, the opening ceremony also marked the official launch of the Melaka Industrial Fair (MIF) 2027, which will take place on 5–6 May 2027 at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), Melaka.

The expansion aims to strengthen connections between manufacturing communities across Southern Malaysia while creating more opportunities for industry collaboration, technology exchange and business development.

Johor Industrial Fair 2026 continues until 21st August 2026 at AICC, Johor Bahru, providing three days of business networking, technology discovery and industry knowledge exchange.
