The Johor government will implement a smart queuing system, Smart Que System (SQS), using quick response code (QR) scans at specialist clinics throughout the state to improve patient management efficiency.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said that the first system of its kind used in a government hospital in Malaysia is an initiative of the state government with an allocation of RM1 million.
He said that SQS will undergo a trial period starting 1st July at the Specialist Clinic, Hospital Sultanah Aminah Hospital.
“The full trial will be in early July, and by the end of the year, if patient feedback at the Specialist Clinic is efficient, we will implement it at other hospitals,” he said at a press conference after visiting HSA.
“This system allows patients to check appointments and take their queue numbers online, only needing to arrive 30 minutes before the appointment time. This is an important leap towards the digitalisation of public services that are more people-friendly,” he added, then explained that the system also allows patients to receive notifications directly to their smartphones, without having to queue repeatedly at clinics or pharmacies.
Meanwhile, he also announced that the state government is committed to helping launch HSA services, including upgrading eight wards, prayer rooms and toilets, which are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Together with Johor Health Exco, Ling Tian Soon, Onn Hafiz went to HSA to review the implementation of various improvement initiatives that are being actively implemented for the comfort and well-being of the Johor people.
“Among the main focuses of this visit was the operation of the Wakaf An-Nur Clinic, which is now open five days a week for non-critical cases.”
“This clinic not only offers alternatives to patients but also helps reduce congestion in the Emergency Department, especially during peak hours. I have ordered that the number of doctors be increased to expand treatment capacity and speed up patient waiting times,” he said, adding that he was informed that the re-operation of West Ward 5 will be opened soon after his review on the upgrading works of the main electricity supply system as well as the hospital’s electrical and mechanical systems.
“During the same visit, I also witnessed the handover of a new ambulance to the Johor Bahru District Health Office to strengthen the preparedness and response of health services in the field.”
“In addition, to improve treatment facilities, HSA has also received donations of 250 units of mechanical beds, 57 units of baby cots and 102 units of baby bassinets, which will certainly improve the quality of treatment, especially for paediatric patients.”
