Johor has won two categories in the 2024 National Rugby 7-a-side (7s) Championship, held at the Tengku Muhammad Ismail Rugby Stadium in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu.

The Men’s Open category won by a score of 22-0 against Selangor, while the Under-21 Men’s category won by a score of 26-12 over Terengganu.

Two of the team’s players, Muhammad Azwan Zuwairi Mat Zizi and Mohamad Zariff Mohd Zaidy emerged as the best players in the Men’s Open category and Men’s Under-21 category respectively.

The Johor team’s triumph brought them cash prizes of RM3,000 and RM5,000, respectively.

“This victory is not easy to win, especially after almost eleven years waiting after the last time we won the championship in 2013 on home soil.”

“After this, we will prepare for the Agong Cup Rugby Championship, which is scheduled to take place next month,” the head coach of the Johor Open Men’s team, Mohd Izwan Abu Bakar reportedly said.
