JLand Group (JLG), the real estate and infrastructure arm of Johor Corporation (JCorp), has recently announced a contribution of over RM980,000 for the development of Felda Bukit Batu and community wellbeing efforts under the Jalinan Komuniti Sedenak Lestari programme in Felda Bukit Batu, Sedenak, Kulai, Johor. This initiative reflects JLG’s commitment to community empowerment and sustainable practices.
The contributions are utilised for upgrading the key local facilities, namely Sekolah Agama Felda Bukit Batu, Dewan Semai Bakti, and Taman Rekreasi Felda Bukit Batu. Additionally, JLG contributed a dedicated van for funeral services to Masjid Al-Muhajirin, Felda Bukit Batu, and a 65-inch television for the Balai Raya, further enhancing the social and economic wellbeing of the community. Last year, JLG organised the Cleanovation Day programme to refurbish Masjid Al-Muhajirin, Felda Bukit Batu, and hosted a Majlis Berbuka Puasa with the Felda Bukit Batu community as part of its efforts to engage with and support local residents.
Datuk Sr. Akmal Ahmad, Group Managing Director of JLG, said, “Responsibilities towards the community and social wellbeing are just as important as economic progress. Every major change begins with small, meaningful steps, and these efforts can only succeed when we work together as one. Let us unite to embed sustainability into every action we take. Together, we leave a legacy of shared prosperity and a better planet for future generations.”
“Community well-being serves as a cornerstone of JLG’s commitment to responsible development. Aligned with our mission to “Build. Create. Thrive” we recognise the community as a key partner in every project. Our corporate responsibility remains focused on fostering inclusive and sustainable growth. Sustainability is not just a goal—it is a responsibility to ensure businesses thrive, people flourish, and the planet prospers,” he added during the Jalinan Komuniti Sedenak Lestari programme.
The programme featured a variety of activities, including a Smart Waste Management talk by JLG Zaquin, creative competitions such as Pertandingan Gubahan Kreatif and Pertandingan Menu Sarapan Sihat, and the environmentally themed “Education Tree” competition for students. Recycling initiatives with SWM Environment emphasised effective waste management, while KPJ Bandar Dato’ Onn provided free health screenings for attendees.
The half-day event at Dewan Semai Bakti was officiated by Fizwan Dato’ Hj Mohd Rashidi, District Officer of Kulai. It brought together over 200 participants including students and community members, creating a platform to raise awareness about environmental preservation, health, and the importance of collective action in achieving sustainability goals.
As a symbolic gesture, JLG presented a tree sapling to the Felda Bukit Batu Manager, to be planted across the Felda Bukit Batu area, underscoring JLG’s commitment to environmental rejuvenation.
Concluding the programme, Datuk Sr. Akmal Ahmad said, “This initiative marks the beginning of our journey with the Felda Bukit Batu community. By working hand in hand, we can create a lasting legacy of closed-knit community and advancing progress in sustainability.”
