“In a positive development for the Jementah community, I am pleased to announce that the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), through the Chinese New Village Division, has approved a project to upgrade the neglected recreational park at Lorong 8, Jementah, Segamat, Johor,” said Jementah ADUN Ng Kor Sim.

“This park has long been a focal point for the local community, especially for the elderly and children to engage in activities such as exercise, dancing, and yoga. But unfortunately it has been in a state of disrepair for the past five years.

The damaged pedestrian pathways and broken streetlights have made it difficult for residents to enjoy their activities, especially in the early morning,” she highlighted.

According to Ng, KPKT has approved an allocation of RM199,000 for this long outstanding project. The funds will be used to install 12 streetlights, two spotlights, and a traditional Malay-style gazebo (wakaf). In addition, the jogging track will also be repaired, and the parking area upgraded with premix asphalt.

The project will be conducted through an open tender process, with advertisements running from 5th to 15th September 2024. Work is expected to commence in early October and be completed by the end of the year.

I visited this park on 22nd March 2022, right after winning the State Election and saw firsthand the need for improvements. Many of my voters there had come to me seeking help to rehabilitate the park since.

“Thanks to KPKT, especially Minister Nga Kor Ming, we have finally secured the funding to bring this project to life. This is an important step in ensuring the well-being of Jementah’s residents, adding her gratitude to Ayer Keroh Member of Parliament, Khoo Poay Tiong, who is also the Chairman of KPKT’s Chinese New Village Division, for his support in approving the project”.

“This is not just about upgrading a park; it’s about improving the quality of life for the people of Jementah. I am committed to securing more resources for our community and ensuring that we continue to promote projects that benefit everyone,” said Ng.
