Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) launched Iskandar Puteri’s community website www.iskandarputeri.com, which showcases and features various local communities, initiatives and happenings in Iskandar Puteri (IP). Dubbed as IP Portal, it is positioned as a new communication platform for all stakeholders and communities in IP. It would be a one-stop centre for the latest news, business opportunities, healthcare, education, career, investment and public services. The portal was launched here by the Johor State Exco, Chairman for Tourism, Youth and Sports Committee, Datuk Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi.
Also present at the launch ceremony was the Mayor of Bandaraya Iskandar Puteri, Dato’ Haji Mohd Haffiz bin Haji Ahmad, Director of Tourism Johor Tuan Haji Suhairi bin Hashim and President/CEO of Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB), Datuk Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad.
Onn Hafiz said, “This portal would be the gateway or window for all stakeholders and communities in Iskandar Puteri to reach out to the world and vice versa. This initiative is a step forward to place IP at par with other international cities. We are also pleased to announce the Iskandar Puteri Tourism Action Council (IPTAC). The Council is responsible for planning, coordinating and facilitating recovery action plans to revive tourism in Johor that involves industry’s stakeholders, ranging from the private sectors, government agencies and local authorities.”
IPTAC would promote and accelerate the collaboration among all stakeholders in Iskandar Puteri to develop an integrated promotion for IP as an attractive and vibrant destination. Moving forward, IPTAC will co-manage IP Portal.
According to IIB President and CEO Datuk Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad said, “The portal’s launch is another milestone in developing Iskandar Puteri, and a fitting attribute to increasing visibility, awareness, and elevating IP’s status as a modern city. As the catalytic developer of IP, IIB is honoured to be able to work collaboratively and synergistically with other stakeholders here, namely Majlis Bandaraya Iskandar Puteri (MBIP), Tourism Johor, Tourism Malaysia, IRDA, Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, UEM Sunrise Berhad, Gleneagles Medini, LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, Iskandar Malaysia Studio and others, to be a part of this great journey”.
As part of the promotion to attract visitors to Iskandar Puteri, IIB will be holding a photography contest from the 15th of December 2021 until the 15th of March 2022. The contest is open to all Malaysian citizens and residents in Malaysia, aged 13 years old and above. The objective of this contest is to encourage visitors to IP and help boost the city to become one of the many tourists’ hotspots in the state of Johor. Participants would stand a chance to win cash prizes of RM2,000, hotel stays sponsored by LEGOLAND Hotel and Ramada Meridin, and some shopping vouchers sponsored by Ben’s Independent Grocer. Participants must take photos of fascinating places in Iskandar Puteri with a creative caption. Aside from the portal’s launch, five young students from the Iskandar Puteri Junior Drone Pilot Programme also received their respective certificates from Dato’ Haji Mohd Haffiz bin Haji Ahmad, the Mayor of Iskandar Puteri. The Iskandar Puteri Junior Drone Pilot is a joint programme between IIB and Avitex Solution (M) Sdn Bhd – a commercial arm of UTHM’s Department of Aeronautical Engineering Aircraft Structure for the Southern Drone School, with the objectives to nurture the talents in developing drone and robotics in Iskandar Puteri as well as building the value of Iskandar Puteri as the future of digital talent hub.
