Under the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, IMU’s programme is the first private university in Malaysia to be ranked in Dentistry

IMU University (IMU) has achieved a landmark milestone in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, making its debut in Dentistry ranking 100 in the world and the highest citation score among Malaysian universities. IMU is also the first private university in Malaysia to be ranked in Dentistry, marking a historic breakthrough for the country’s private higher education sector and positioning the University as a rising global leader in dental education and research.

In addition to this achievement, IMU continues to demonstrate excellence in Medicine and Pharmacy, maintaining its consistent presence in the rankings since entering the QS subject listings in 2020 and 2021 respectively. These sustained recognitions reflect the University’s commitment to academic quality, impactful research, and developing future-ready healthcare professionals.

IMU’s Pharmacy programme remains the #1 private university in Malaysia within the Top 200 globally for the third consecutive year, also achieving the highest citation score and h-index in Malaysia, reinforcing its leadership in pharmaceutical education and research.

In Medicine, IMU has been recognised among global subject rankings, achieving the highest citation scores among private universities, highlighting the University’s significant contributions to healthcare research and innovation.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluates institutions based on academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations and international research collaboration. Recognition across multiple disciplines highlights IMU’s breadth of strengths and its focus on delivering quality education aligned with healthcare and industry needs.
