Iskandar Malaysia Social Hero Award (IMSHA) winner Ihsan Johor has signed an MoU with Universitas Almuslim, Aceh, Indonesia, after their Phase 2 week-long emergency relief in Aceh from 25th to 31st December in Pidie Jaya, Bireuen & Aceh Utara, Aceh, Indonesia.

The objective of this MoU is to establish a framework for cooperation between the Parties in the areas of humanitarian assistance, disaster response, community resilience, and sustainable livelihood development, with particular focus on flood-affected communities in Aceh, Indonesia, and potential future cross-border humanitarian initiatives.

Under the name Aceh 2025 Ihsan Humanitarian Mission (Misi Ihsan Kemanusiaan Aceh 2025), both parties would cooperate in terms of humanitarian and disaster response, research, innovation and technical collaboration, livelihood and community economic development, academic and volunteer and community engagement.

The NGO activated their Aceh Humanitarian Mission 2025 together with the university following the massive floods and mudslides that hit several regions in Aceh and Sumatra, where thousands of families were reportedly affected, losing their homes and access to clean water, food and basic amenities.

The mission main objectives include providing emergency assistance to flood victims (clean water, food, basic necessities); supporting post-disaster recovery through area cleaning and construction of clean water wells; providing psychosocial support to psychologically affected children (trauma); assisting in the continuation of education through distribution of Al-Quran, books and Back To School programmes; and building long-term partnerships with local institutions for sustainable community development.

Through the provision of clean water wells (Sumur Bor) and education, the mission prioritised long-term development, post-flood recovery, emergency relief, and psychosocial support for children.

A total of 5,000 individuals and 1,500 families in Phases 1 and 2 were helped, 60% of whom are women, and 520 out of them all are children. 10 volunteers covered 508 km for 120 hours, bearing a total cost of IDR 124,725,000.00, equivalent to RM 9,513.00.

In Phase 3 of the mission, Ihsan Johor will distribute 500 units of Al-Quran & Kitab Endowment, conduct a Back-to-School Programme for about 100 children, build four more borehole units (based on funding), work with Universitas AlMuslim to clean up after the flood, and offer 200 children psychosocial support.

Additionally, from 1st January 2026 to 31st December 2027, Ihsan Johor was appointed to the Rakan NADMA (National Disaster Management Agency) committee.
