Hari Raya Aid from the Government to Farmers and Fishermen

This is in addition to previous assistance, such as the Fisherman's Living Allowance and to benefit over 200,000 rice farmers

The provision of RM200 in special assistance to rice farmers and fishermen is expected to benefit 240,000 rice farmers and 38,500 fishermen across the country

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) in a statement by its Minister, Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad Sabu welcomes the Prime Minister’s announcement regarding Raya Aidilfitri Special Financial Assistance to rice farmers and fishermen.

“This announcement proves the Government’s concern to defend the plight of rice farmers and fishermen in line with the vision framework of MADANI Malaysia,” he said.

Aid distribution to eligible rice farmers and fishermen on a one-off basis of RM200 per person will be paid from 10 April 2023 through several agencies.

For Farmers, through the Farmers Organisation Board (LPP), Young Agricultural Development Board (MADA), Kemubu Agricultural Development Board (KADA) while Sea Fishermen through the Malaysian Fish Development Board (LKIM) and Land Fishermen through the Malaysian Fisheries Department (DOF).

The provision of RM200 in special assistance to rice farmers and fishermen is expected to benefit 240,000 rice farmers and 38,500 fishermen across the country.

This is in addition to previous assistance of the Fisherman’s Living Allowance of RM300 per month and a cash contribution of RM200 per month to rice farmers for a period of three (3) months or a season.

“KPKM is very grateful to the Prime Minister for his concern in ensuring the welfare of rice farmers and fishermen in the face of the high cost of living, and KPKM hopes the assistance given this time will help the rice farmers and fishermen in making preparations to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he concluded.
