In an ode to environmental consciousness, Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast proudly announces the achievement of the Silver Award for LEED 2009 New Construction and Major Renovations by the U.S. Green Building Council. This recognition underscores the resort’s commitment to sustainable practices.

Murray Aitken, General Manager of the resort, said, “Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast doesn’t just honour music; we honour our part in the symphony of environmental conservation. This Silver LEED certification is a testament to our commitment to harmonise luxury with sustainable practices.”

In the pursuit of sustainable living, the resort has introduced a medley of green features and practices throughout the property. The open concept design of areas like the lobby and The Elephant and The Butterfly restaurant by the pool, optimises air circulation, minimising the need for air-conditioning. Natural light illuminates’ corridors and rooms, reducing reliance on artificial lighting. Landscaping is choreographed with nature, utilising rainwater collected through dedicated harvesting areas. In line with the commitment to reduce electricity wastage, the hotel utilises motion sensor technology to power light fixtures in stairwells and public washroom.

The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a prestigious certification that encompasses energy use, lighting, water and material use as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies. LEED verifies environmental performance, occupant health and financial return. It is the world’s most widely used green building rating system that provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings, which benefit the environment and society.
