Iskandar Malaysia Social Hero (IMSHA)-winning non-government organisation (NGO), Happy and Joyous Club Johor Bahru (HJCJB) is full-on gear for this year’s World Laughter Day after two years of virtual celebration due to the Covid-19 pandemic, by holding its first physical event this 1st of May 2022 at Leisure Mall, Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru from 7.30am to 8.30am.
Namely, the 14th JB-World Laughter Day 2022, the event will be having Stulang State Assemblyman, Andrew Chen Kah Eng as their guest of honour.
“World Laughter Day is important because it reminds people to stop worrying about small, insignificant things and learn to laugh off problems,” said President Koh Mui Cheng in an online press conference, inviting the public to the event.
“The objectives of the celebration are to promote world peace through laughter, to have outdoor fellowship with members and the community and to increase awareness of laughter benefits to the community,” Organising Chair, Siew Mei Goh before laying out the activities planned for the celebration which includes reading World Peace message in four main languages, Laughter King and Queen contest, Dance and Laugher March, singing and clown performance, a laughing group exercise and many more. Free and limited World Laughing Day 2022 t-shirts by the NGO would also be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
World Laughter Day was initiated in 1998 by Dr Madan Kataria, the founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement. The celebration of World Laughter Day is regarded as a positive manifestation of world peace and it is intended to build global consciousness of brotherhood and friendship through laughter.
In lieu of the celebration, HJCJB has held Malaysia Laughing Championship 2022 and crowned Tamanaraju from Kuala Lumpur to represent Malaysia for the World Laughing Championship 2022 happening on the upcoming 15th May 2022.
