Desaru Coast, a Malaysian integrated destination resort on Johor’s south-eastern coast, has been selected as one of TIME Magazine’s World’s Greatest Places of 2021 under a list of 100 of the magazine’s greatest locations from across the world. TIME’s international network of correspondents and industry experts prepared the third annual edition of the list which was published on 20th July 2021.
Desaru Coast is the sole Malaysian location on the list this year. The resort is promoted to a global audience as a beach getaway with a coveted list of international hotels and other attractions such as world-class golf courses and Sedili Wetlands cruises. The journal also mentions that the Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal, which is set to open soon, will expand Singapore’s and Indonesia’s transit possibilities.
“We are honoured to be globally recognised by such a renowned publication and we are proud to fly the flag for both Johor and Malaysia. This is an outstanding achievement for a team of only two years in operations and especially during this challenging time for the industry. With this notable feather in our cap, we look forward to welcoming guests from all over the world once travel resumes,” said Desaru Coast Destination Resort Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Roslina Arbak.
Desaru Coast is home to world-class and ultra-luxury hotels, including Asia’s first, One&Only Desaru Coast, Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas, The Westin Desaru Coast Resort, and Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast, which are all situated against 17 kilometres of pristine beachfront. Two world-class golf courses and the region’s largest adventure waterpark are among the attractions and experiences available at the location. Desaru Coast, with its wide-open spaces and excellent connectivity to the rest of the region, is the ideal beach getaway for the most observant of travellers.
