Gemilang Sport & Recreation Club (GSRC), formed by the employees of Gemilang International Limited (GML), is promoting a food bank initiative with HOL 448 food bank by inviting the public for food donation for the needy community. Established in July 2022, the club aims to foster team bonding, an active and healthy community, and encourage corporate social responsibility (CSR) among and beyond the employees of GML.

As part of its commitment to CSR, GSRC has set up a collection point in the company to collect food items on a monthly basis. The food items are donated by the employees and contractors of GML. Since January 2023, GSRC has collected a considerable amount of food items and donation in monetary contributions to support the food bank initiative.

“This initiative is aimed at supporting and serving the needy community,” said Amber Lee, President of GSRC. “We are grateful for the generosity of our employees and contractors who have contributed to the food bank initiative. It’s heartening to see GML’s community coming together to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.”

The food bank initiative is just one of the ways GSRC promotes CSR within its community. The club also organises regular sports and recreation activities, including badminton sessions every Friday, futsal twice a month, and quarterly bowling sessions. These activities are aimed at strengthening team bonding and promoting an active and healthy lifestyle among GSRC members. “We believe in giving back to the society and being responsible corporate citizens,” Lee added. “Through our CSR initiatives, we aim to make a positive difference in the lives of the community around us and contribute to social and environmental causes.”

The club also organises regular CSR activities to encourage GML’s community to contribute back to the society. In November 2022, GSRC organised a successful blood donation drive and besides the current food bank programme, a beach cleaning event is scheduled in May 2023, and another blood donation drive tentatively scheduled for August 2023.

GSRC is dedicated to promoting team bonding, a healthy lifestyle, and corporate social responsibility among its members. The club is welcoming NGOs for organising CSR events, making a positive difference in the lives of those in need.
