Go-Global 2.0 Connect Conference by Junior Chamber International, Johor Bahru Entrepreneur

The Go-Global 2.0 Connect Conference, organised by the Junior Chamber International Johor Bahru Entrepreneur (JCI JBE) in collaboration with Start IIX and Jobbuilder from the 27th – 29th of August 2023 at Komtar JBCC, aims to rethink the approach to economic growth and sustainability.

According to JCI JBE, leaders and experts from various sectors will be gathering for the Go Global 2.0: Connect Conference to champion the concept of a regenerative economy and position Johor as the leading state in championing this visionary agenda.

With the theme “Navigating into the future – Regenerative Economy, the New Economy Model – Opportunities and Challenges, this visionary approach seeks to transform traditional economic models, particularly amongst Johor entrepreneurs, fostering prosperity while prioritising environmental regeneration, social equity, and long-term resilience.

“The regenerative economy represents a paradigm shift in our understanding of economic progress. It goes beyond the traditional linear “take, make, dispose” model to one that is circular, holistic, and restorative.”

“By harnessing the power of innovation, collaboration, and sustainable practises, this new economic vision aims to tackle pressing global challenges, such as climate change, resource depletion, and social inequality,” said JCI JBE.

“The unveiling of this regenerative economy vision comes at a critical juncture in history. As the world faces interconnected challenges, the call for transformational change has never been louder. By aligning Johor’s economic objectives with the health of our planet and the dignity of its inhabitants, the regenerative economy offers a roadmap to a more resilient, prosperous, and harmonious future.”

The conference also aims to help local business leaders discover new opportunities, build new relationships, and access experts’ insights and exposure to a global mind, focusing on promoting economic models that prioritise sustainability, resilience, and equity.

The conference will showcase a line-up of distinguished speakers and experts from the private and public sectors, alongside local and international agencies, giving insights into the following areas of the Regenerative Economy:

New Economy

An economic system that aims to create sustainable and thriving ecosystems, both within human society and in the natural environment. Regeneration and replenishing resources vs. consuming and depleting them.

Long Term Prosperity

Create long term prosperity by focusing on the health and well-being of communities, the natural environment, and the economy as a whole.

Mindset Transformation

Integration of social, environmental, and economic factors into decision making processes, promoting circular and closed-loop systems and prioritising renewable and regenerative resources.

New Business Model

Traditional economic models based on the extraction and exploitation of natural resources are not sustainable in the long term, and a new approach is needed to ensure a thriving future for both human society and the planet.

Mohd Hairi Mad Shah, Johor State Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives, and Human Resources Committee Chairman, will be the guest of honour at the event. His presence will strengthen the Public and Private partnership under the Plan Pembangunan Mampan Johor 2030 (PPMJ 2030), promoting local entrepreneurship and enhancing the state’s support for entrepreneurship development.

JCI JBE, in collaboration with START IIX and Jobbuilder, invites all stakeholders—governments, businesses, communities, and individuals—to unite in pursuit of this bold vision.

“Together, we can rewrite the story of our Johor economy, ushering in an era of regenerative prosperity that leaves a positive legacy for generations to come, supporting the PPMJ 2030 plans to transform Johor as an investor-friendly location, promoting the transfer of innovative technology  and increasing high impact investment into the states,” said JCI.
