KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital (KPJ Johor) under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) has started vaccinating people with disabilities (PWD).
Several PWD individuals were found excited to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at the KPJ Johor vaccination centre (PPV).
Thew Ming Soon, 23, said he was very happy to receive the injection. According to him, the provision of vaccines to the disabled has been long-awaited.
“I have registered for the vaccine through the MySejahtera application on my phone since March and last Sunday I received a vaccine appointment at KPJ Johor.”
“My advice to the public, especially the disabled, is not to be afraid to get vaccinated. Hopefully, we can live as usual.”
A mother of one of the PWD recipients, Delailah Sabtu, 50, said the opportunity to get vaccinated should be utilised as much as possible as her child is under the high-risk groups.
Her son Mohamad Iqbal Haqeem, 21 is in a good condition to receive the vaccine on the said day. He was said to agree to attend his appointment and was prepared to get vaccinated as he often watched advertisements and news of vaccination programmes in the country.
Chief Executive Officer of KPJ Johor, Mohd Azhar Abdullah said the management was pleased and proud that the PPV was selected as one of the vaccination centres for the group.
“We will be giving our best, especially to this group, by providing drive-through vaccination services. It is part of our contribution to the nation’s goal to achieve herd immunity this year.”
