The National Integrated Immigration System’s (NIISe) first day of trial roll-out at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) and Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI), entry to Singapore on 22nd September 2025 using MyNIISe QR Code was reportedly smooth with several issues acknowledged by Johor Public Works, Transport and Infrastructure Committee chairman, Ir. Ts. Mohamad Fazli Salleh.

NIISe is a comprehensive and integrated immigration system, leveraging the latest technology and sophistication and optimising automation to ensure the quality of immigration service delivery meets user expectations.

“This initial phase involves 28 car lanes – 16 at the Sultan Iskandar Building (8 entry, 8 exit) and 12 at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (6 entry, 6 exit),” Fazli said in a statement on his official Facebook page, noting several rising issues while implementation of the application.

“The results of my survey at BSI in the morning, between 7.50 and 9.30 am, I found that there were several issues that were being given immediate attention. Firstly, the number of users is still low, with only around 40,000 users who have registered so far. To overcome this, I suggest that flyers and brochures be distributed more widely at all car lanes at BSI and KSAB.”

“Secondly, there are users who are still not very proficient in using the MyNIISe application. To that end, I suggest that brochures with guidelines be distributed, alongside infographics and videos, through the Media Digital Johor channels as well as the official media of the Ministry of Home Affairs and NIISe.”

“Thirdly, I found that there are still no dedicated lanes for NIISe QR users. To ensure smooth operations, we have reached a consensus to dedicate Car Zones B1–B4 as dedicated lanes for QR Codes in the initial stage, while Car Zones B5–B8 will be made hybrid lanes. I also suggest that banners and signs be added so that users can segregate the use of QR counters in advance before entering the BSI building.”

“Fourthly, I was informed that SingTel telco users, especially Singaporeans, are facing difficulties in registering. For this issue, I suggest that NIISe and HeiTech Padu to look into the matter in more depth, including through a scheduled working visit to Singapore to obtain more details.”

Despite the initial challenges, he remains confident that this initiative will streamline the Johor-Singapore border entry and exit process, reduce congestion at the entry points and provide a more efficient and comfortable travel experience for the people.

He assures that the trial will also continue to be refined from time to time based on user feedback, before being expanded to motorcycle, pedestrian and bus passenger lanes.

“Johor continues to be a pioneer state in the effort to modernize the country’s immigration system, to ensure smooth border crossings and the comfort of the people.”

“I urge the public to download the MyNIISe application and try this facility for themselves. The complete guide can be consulted through the official channels of the Ministry of Home Affairs and NIISe,” he concluded.
