As announced in the Johor Budget 2021 by Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Ir. Hasni Mohammad last Thursday, the Johor state government will send and distribute food boxes to Malaysians in the neighbouring country, Singapore.

The state government plans to distribute 1,000 food boxes which also contains personal hygiene products and blankets, with the first phase of delivery and distribution of 300 food boxes. At the cost of RM30,000, the distribution will be done immediately and in stages.

To facilitate the distribution of the food boxes, the state government will work with the Office of the High Commissioner of Malaysia in Singapore.

The Office of the High Commissioner of Malaysia in Singapore will be used as a collection and distribution centre so that the programme can be implemented smoothly.

“I would like to thank and express my appreciation to several parties, including the government departments and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) who helped to facilitate the process of collecting and distributing these food boxes,” Hasni said.

“Among those who helped realise this mission are Wisma Putra, Customs Department, Immigration Department, Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (MAQIS) and Johor Corporation (JCorp),” he said.

He thanked the Johor Public Transport Corporation, Southern Volunteers and Heavy Machine Motor Club (HMMC) Johor Bahru for the aid on the mission.

“I hope the food box programme by the state government can ease and help Malaysians in need in Singapore,” he concluded his press statement.
