Pick up some authentic Peranakan cuisine in the serene of golf resort

Peranakan food has its own unique taste and special heritage. While it might be a little far to go all the way to where it originated from – Melaka and even Penang, take a detour to Pulai Springs Resort instead this September as the resort is offering a scrumptious ‘Nyonya Pergi Makan’ buffet for lunch from 12.00pm – 2.30pm and dinner 6.30pm – 9.30pm at the all-day dining Cinta Ayu Terrace Restaurant.

Nyonya Curry Laksa – get your piping hot nyonya laksa here

The menu is specially crafted by invited guest Chef Barnitus Ang, a Peranakan descent from Melaka with the assistance from the resort’s Executive Chef Kenny Lim so we can confirm its authenticity. It is contemporary, yes, but with the foundation of good old-fashioned Nyonya cuisine.  Picture Nyonya Nasi Ulam that has this lovely, herbal fragrant that calls for us to take a handful of it and before we know it, the creamy Ayam Pongteh and spicy, savoury Terung Sambal Udang Kering have decorated our plate to harmonise with the rice. A spoon of sour and spicy Acar Mentah Nyonya is a perfect, refreshing addition to complete your meal.

Nyonya kuih inspired by cendol in the form of solid glutinous flour, coconut milk, cendol and gula melaka

Our Peranakan cuisine experience would only come into full circle once we had the Nyonya Curry Laksa and Ikan Siakap Nyonya Asam Pedas prepared live at the stalls. The fresh siakap fish cuts are available for your choosing before it is cooked into the Asam Pedas by their talented chefs.

If we say Melaka – it is just right to have coconut milk shake in our meal

Don’t miss out on the Rojak Buah for its multiple roles as an appetiser, snack and dessert. Take plenty and treat it as how you see it fit! Then, clear your taste bud with some sweet Sago Gula Melaka, Bubur Cha Cha and assorted Nyonya Kuih as a conclusion to the session.
