MEOA is pleased to be working with Earth Heir – proudly fair trade certified with the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO), which works with over 100 artisans from women’s cooperatives, indigenous tribes and refugee groups, across six states of Malaysia to produce all the PPE suits needed for this contribution.

The Association – which mainly represents the small and medium companies in the plantation industry, was established in 1931 to promote, foster and protect the interests of the plantation industry in Malaysia. Towards this, MEOA is steadfast in its support of the commendable work by Malaysia’s public and private health community to keep the people safe and informed during this extraordinary time. The Association is also well known for its sustained corporate social responsibilities which not only benefit the plantation industry but the country as a whole.

MEOA’s President Mr. Jeffrey Ong in a statement said: “We at MEOA are incredibly grateful for the commitment and the heroic display of kindness, dedication, and professionalism of our healthcare professionals. Despite facing a real danger of contracting the COVID-19 and facing serious work exhaustion, they continue to be truly committed to saving lives.”

“HTAA is an exemplary public hospital for dedicating their staff and facilities to treat COVID-19 patients. Their efforts supported by the strategies of the Government towards effectively curbing the spread and intensity of the epidemic, not just in Pahang but all over the country. MEOA takes this opportunity thank our healthcare staff and all other frontliners who are going above and beyond the call of duty in carrying out their respective tasks; resulting in the increasing number of COVID-19 green zones which currently stands at 121 while only seventy (70) are yellow zones and ten (10) are red zones,” continued Ong.

In response – Dr Norazmi Bin Abdullah Hospital, Director of HTAA, Kuantan said, “HTAA appreciates and thank MEOA for this generous donation of much needed items. It is good that members are of the public are involved and are supporting HTAA and other medical personnel. In actual fact, the public are the real ‘frontliners’ as they have to face the real danger of COVID-19, while the medical personnel are actually at the back treating the patients.”

This is not the first time that MEOA had provided support towards efforts to curb the spread and reduce the spike of COVID-19 in Malaysia. In April this year, the Association contributed 30,000 surgical masks to the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang, Selangor. As a continuous effort, MEOA will be donating 1,000 PPE suits each to two (2) other dedicated COVID-19 hospitals – in Perak and Johor respectively and one (1) other in the East Malaysia State of Sabah, in the coming weeks.

“All of us at MEOA would also like to take this opportunity to wish Selamat Hari Raya Adilfitri to all Muslims and especially to our frontline heroes. Now it is our turn to give something back to those on the healthcare frontline by strictly adhering to the government’s standard operating procedures during the Conditional Movement Control Order period especially during the upcoming Hari Raya celebration,” said Ong.
