Teachers are the cornerstone of every child’s success. 146 dedicated educators from Johor took centre stage as PEMIMPIN launched the Program Anak Kita: Leadership, Enrichment, and Development (LEAD) Fellowship on 13th January 2025 at the Trove Hotel, Johor Bahru. This initiative is part of the nationwide Program Anak Kita, a collaboration spearheaded by the Ministry of Education (MoE),  the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and led by Unit Pantau Madani and Yayasan Hasanah to address learning loss.

The  LEAD  Fellowship  is  a capacity  building  programme for  73  Guru Pemulihan Khas and 73 Ketua Panitia Bahasa Melayu and Mathematics from schools in Johor Bahru, Batu Pahat, Muar, Pontian, and Tangkak to equip teachers with leadership and pedagogical skills  tailored for  literacy and numeracy development. This fellowship enables them to create contextual  and data driven interventions that directly support students requiring remedial learning. Focusing on the 3Ms  – reading,  writing,  and counting (membaca, menulis dan mengira) – the programme targets students  who have experienced  learning  loss,  guiding  them to improve their   proficiency   levels   and setting   the  stage for   their   continued   academic success.

Teachers receive in-person training through workshops, coaching sessions and online pedagogical courses via LADAP Plus, Malaysia’s first teacher professional development mobile app. They are also assisted with seed grants for school-based initiatives and continuous support through school visits and virtual professional learning communities. Running till December 2025, the programme will directly support 146 teachers from 73 schools in Johor and indirectly benefit 2,687 students.

Constance  Yuen,  CEO  of  PEMIMPIN,  emphasised  the programme’s transformative potential,  “At  PEMIMPIN,  we believe  that ‘Excellent  Schools begin with Excellent School  Leaders.’  Through the LEAD  Fellowship under Program Anak Kita, we are investing in teachers as leaders of change. By equipping them with the tools and strategies to address challenges in literacy and numeracy, we aim to ensure that every student, regardless  of  their  starting  point,  has the opportunity  to thrive academically.  Together  with  our partners,  we are dedicated  to closing  learning gaps and creating lasting impact for students in Johor.”

Program Anak Kita (PAK) is a national initiative  aimed  at tackling  learning  gaps among  Malaysian   students.   Announced   by  Prime   Minister   Dato’  Seri  Anwar Ibrahim  in  Budget 2024,  PAK is backed by RM100 million to support students in basic literacy and numeracy, reintegrate dropouts into the education system especially  those  from  underprivileged  backgrounds and  improve  SPM certification  eligibility.  The  program adopts a whole-nation  approach,  working with  five international  agencies,  three public  universities  and  seven  civil society organisations to ensure no child is left behind. Through tailored interventions, specialized teacher training, and supportive classroom environments, Program Anak Kita   strives   to build   a  robust  academic   foundation   thus  empowering students for long-term success.

PEMIMPIN   is   an organisation   focused   on  providing high-quality,  evidence-based  leadership  training  for  teachers and school  leaders from government schools in Malaysia. Our strategy unfolds in ascending levels of impact—personalised support, scalable resources, and systemic change—leading to three key pillars: The Fellowship through programmes such as LEAD and ASLI, Educational  Technology  in  the form  of  our mobile  application  LADAP Plus,  and Prize  Initiatives  through the Malaysia  Teacher  Prize.  Together,  these pillars  align with our vision:  every school in Malaysia will be led by an effective leader.

Since 2017, the organisation has engaged with over 1,900 schools across Malaysia, reaching    over   3,500    teachers  through  differentiated    workshops  that   are specifically  designed  to meet the needs of  school  leaders,  middle  leaders  and teacher leaders. Additionally, through LADAP Plus, PEMIMPIN’s latest mobile application for  teachers, the organisation has reached over 25,000 educators from over 6,000 schools nationwide.
