Session by Dr Wan Raisuha Wan Ali, on students’ progress based on PISA and TIMSS results

SPSD was first introduced in April last year with the aim to assist teachers to use e-learning platforms effectively as a way of ensuring continued learning for students, especially during the months of lockdown due to COVID-19, when students had to migrate from physical classrooms to virtual learning. The first seminar was very well received, with participants made up of mostly secondary school teachers teaching STEM subjects joining the virtual session.

This year, SPSD 2022 continues to support the mission of the National Education Blueprint 2011 – 2025, to strengthen the quality of education by upskilling teachers to be able to utilise creative and effective teaching styles to deliver meaningful learning experiences to their students.

Ezarisma Azni Mohamad, CEO, Petrosains Sdn Bhd said SPSD aims to inspire and upskill teachers to be more innovative and creative in their teaching methods

Ezarisma Azni Mohamad, Chief Executive Officer of Petrosains Sdn Bhd said, “This is central to our mission here at Petrosains, to pursue the power of transformative learning in the fields of STEM. We hope teachers will be inspired to be more innovative and creative in their teaching methods in order to provide better education quality for our younger generation. In turn, these collective efforts will contribute to our national aspirations to transform Malaysia into a digitally-driven, high income nation.”

Ab Aziz Mamat, Secretariat Head, Digital Education Policy Secretariat, in opening the seminar, said it was important to future-proof our education system and ensure it is able to equip students with much-needed digital skills.

Participants who registered for the seminar were entitled to Petrosains admission ticket promotions of two complimentary child tickets with every purchase of two adult admission tickets. In addition, they were also eligible for an RM10 discount voucher with a minimum spend of RM50 in a single receipt at XPLORASI Gift Shop, valid until 12th June 2022.
