On the 14th of June 2022, REHDA Johor held its 46th AGM at KSL Hotel with a record turnover of 156 REHDA Johor members representing almost 90% of the total membership.
The 46th AGM was also an election year and a new set of committee was elected following the Branch election process. Wong Boon Lang was re-elected as the chairman for REHDA Johor for 2022/24 term.
During the AGM, Wong thanked the Johor State Government for amending some of the difficult housing rules but urged them to implement the changes as soon as possible as it will augur well with the post-COVID recovery effort from both the Public and Private sectors.
It has been highlighted that there are many post-COVID issues such as shortage of building materials and the rising cost of it as well as the acute shortage of labour to carry out the building works. The increase in cost of building materials is currently estimated at around 20%. Wong appealed to the State Government to seriously look into the inflationary pressure which all the REHDA Johor members are facing and hope that the State Government will implement measures to help the REHDA Johor members to mitigate the increase in the rising cost of constructions.
He also urged the State Government to implement the Public & Private Partnership Programme which the State Government had announced at the end of last year to resolve and speed up the construction and the delivery of the low cost houses in Johor.
