Briyani Maqlubah for the Arabic influence

Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel is introducing a new buffet experience with the same lovely spread in its Cafe BLD from the 1st of July 2022, serving you ‘Discover Malaysia Buffet’ until the month of September 2022.

After settling down, my friend and I were quick to load our plates with white rice and Renaissance special Asam Pedas with a huge fish chunk each.

Special Renaissance Asam Pedas for the Malaysian mixed rice is the best Malaysian experience

We then shared a small plate of the spicy and deliciously crunchy Lo Zhi Ji Chilli Chicken that works as an appetiser or side dish and we had seconds of it.

Highly recommended spicy and crunchy Lo Zhi Ji Chilli Chicken

Heavier choices are available with the majestic, fragrant mountain of Maqlubah Briyani with creamy yet zesty salad on the side. If rice is too much for your palate, pick any kind of soups and noodles of your desire at the noodle section, to warm up before you hit the rest of the counters which is a lot when it comes to Cafe BLD’s buffet.

Various offerings of soups and noodles that you could customise to your liking

The fresh oysters at Seafood on Ice are only available on the weekends and are a must-have. Cafe BLD is adventurous in fusion dishes and do give the pizza with Laksa Johor flavour a try. Its toppings are made of laksa paste, and its classic vegetables like shallots and cucumber which works really well on a pizza too.

Can Laksa Johor become a pizza? Get adventurous and pick up a few slices

The exciting Tortilla Kari that I found at the crisps counter goes so well with the traditional Guacamole; it’s a perfect munch for in-between meals when you are resting your palates and digestion.

Kari Tortilla and the fresh Guacamole is so addictive!

There are many other mouth-watering dishes not to be missed while you are there.

Indian Corner – Naan bread and Tandoori Chicken

Malaysian traditional kuih-muih and cakes are abundant in the dessert section and right around the corner, I could easily pick up local cut fruits of jackfruit, dragon fruit, honeydew, and pineapple into a bowl. Rounding up the buffet experience in the scorching hot weather with Ais Batu Campur (ice shaved dessert) with all the toppings that I could think of, is such a dream come true. Enough to say that this section is a delight for both the young and the young at heart.
