Country Garden Helps Keep Malaysia Frontliners and the Community Protected

Sufficient masks to cover the ones at risk the most

Country Garden has donated a total of one million surgical masks and 100,000 N95 face masks for Malaysia’s front liners fighting heads on against COVID-19 pandemic as a part of the company’s humanitarian effort.

The second batch of donation made by the Country Garden Guoqiang Foundation and Forest City, were handed out on 1st April 2020. The first batch of 6,000 masks was distributed on 26th March 2020 to residents and police officers around Lake City @ KL North residential area. Before that, in February 2020, Country Garden Malaysia-Singapore region donated over 21,500 masks to communities and surrounding residents.

The second batch donation in Kuala Lumpur was handed by China’s ambassador to Malaysia, Bai Tian with 50,000 surgical masks and 10,000 N95 masks to Director of Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), Datuk Dr Heric Corray with the presence of General Manager Country Garden MY-SG (KL), Wu Zhongquan.

Wu said that the donation was Country Garden’s way to show solidarity with the Malaysian government in times of need. “It is our way of showing our support and commitment towards the Malaysian people, and also to express our gratitude towards the front-liners who put themselves at risk every day to serve the people.”

On the same day, Johor Bahru’s Country Garden Malaysia-Singapore Regional Vice President, Hj. Ir. Syarul Izam handed over 500,000 surgical masks and 50,000 N95 masks to Datuk Haji Ir Hasni bin Mohammad, Menteri Besar of Johor. The masks will be distributed to front liners such as medical staff and police officers serving at Federal Government and Johor state institutions.

Hj. Ir. Syarul Izam quoted the Malay idiom, “berat sama dipikul, ringan sama dijinjing” (Working together through tough and easy times) for this initiatives and added, “It is in times like these that we really need one another. Therefore, let us be united, putting aside our differences, and work together in our collective fight against COVID-19”.
