The charity run marks their one year shy to a full decade since established
It was sunny, bright yet and wonderfully less humid than the usual Malaysian weather on 27th July 2019, as Columbia Asia Hospital – Iskandar Puteri (CAH-IP) organised its 9th anniversary Celebration & Charity Run 2019 at the hospital as a part of their corporate social responsibility initiative to give back to the community and as an appreciation to patients who have strongly supported since its operations which began in 2010.
The day began with the five-kilometer charity run after a complimentary breakfast which was held in two categories for men and women and 400 participants which received a runner pack comprising a t-shirt, finisher medal and a goody bag.
“The celebration focused on uniting the local communities through educational programmes, create public awareness on health aspects and drive a blood donation campaign. Indeed, this celebratiory event was an ideal platform to educate the community on their well-being, thus making health matters exciting,” said Puan Rahani Yaacob, Columbia Asia Regional General Manager (Southern) in her speech at the event.
As an extent to the hospital’s CSR effort, an amount of RM10,000.00 was given to the Lions Club of JB Iskandar for their active involvement in providing humanitarian services to the community.
CAH-IP collaborated with Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru (HSA) in organising a blood donation campaign during the event to encourage the community to donate their blood while creating the awareness among donors that their effort saves lives. It was also held to sign up more blood donors due to insufficient supply at the National Blood Bank. This collaboration looks to run at least in four series in a year.
Visitors and runners alike enjoyed fun-filled family activities and contests, complimentary basic health screenings and diet consultations, health talks on viral hepatitis, food trucks, lucky draws, colouring contests, kids’ zone and face painting.
