The resort travels back to the 70s when Hard Rock first opened
Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast (HRHDC) held a celebration of Hard Rock annual Founder’s Day on 14th June 2019 to commemorate the beginning of Hard Rock Cafe in London by two Americans, Peter Morton and Isaac Tigrett in 1971. Bringing back the raw beginning’s spirit, 70s music filled the air for the day and staffs were dressed up like it was in the 70s to notch up the fun.
Danny Lee, the only known Malaysian who was actually there, working at Hard Rock Cafe from 1977 to 1980 was invited over to donate some of the memorabilia that he personally owns to HRHDC. Some of it includes menu book mixtapes and CDs of playlist of music that played in Hard Rock Cafe at that time and first sweatshirt produced as merchandise to sell among others.
Danny also shared some interesting stories where the menu was incredibly simple with just salads, burgers and milkshakes becoming its hot selling items, and waitresses had to bewomen of at least 30 years of age. Cafe staffs were also encouraged to sit down and talk to the customers, bringing American experience to London because the two American men (i.e. the founders) just missed the taste of a good burger and were unable to find it at where they were.
Danny then handed over the memorabilia to Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast General Manager, Clinton Lovell. Moving on to the Sessions Restaurant, the Legendary Burger and original milkshakes were put out as special menu for the day. Visitors were able to enjoy what it was like back in the day to have the simplest of food being the bestseller at that time, which catered to teenagers and even rockstars.
Hard Rock Cafe’s Founders Day is celebrated at all 185 cafes, 25 hotels, and 12 casinos worldwide.
