“Apart from being a melting pot of employees from all background including different ethnicities and nationalities, the female talents at PTP are a perfect example of how women continuously challenge the boundaries by not only sitting behind the desk, but also actively involved in the operation side.”

“I am very impressed to know that PTP is the first port in Malaysia to employ a female marine harbour pilot, navigating mega vessels in and out of the port. PTP has also recruited many others who are actively involved in the operation side, by operating heavy machineries, maintaining equipment and facilities and navigating mega vessels in and out of the port.”

“The port sector, which was once known to be a male dominated industry, has progressively increased the presence of women at its workplace to adapt to modern times. As such, the Ministry will continue to work closely with its stakeholders for the benefit of Malaysia’s port and maritime sector,” she added.

Marco Neelsen, PTP Chief Executive Officer explained that the unveiling of PTP’s new fleet of pink prime movers does not only represent PTP’s icon to champion female recruitment initiatives but also the progress and excellence that female workforce has contributed to the growth and the sustainability of PTP.

“As for the launching of PTP Female Employee Referral Programme, the aim is to entice more female talents in Malaysia to join PTP workforce. Under the scheme, a special monetary incentive is offered to all PTP employees who introduce potential female candidate to the company as well as its subsidiary, Manpower Excellence Sdn Bhd resulting in a successful placement of the applicant.”

“Apart from these two initiatives, we are also actively working on various other talent enrichment initiatives via academia collaboration with Young Engineer Apprenticeship Programme (YEAP) and Port Operational Planning Apprenticeship Programme (POPA).   We have also actively involved in industry collaboration with National of Skills Standard and Yayasan Peneraju for technical certification training and other leadership development programmes such as Female Terminal Equipment Operator Fast Track Up-Skilling Programme and Talent Exchange Programme,” added Marco.
