The Fashion and Apparel Unit (SFP), Sabak Bernam Community College (KKSB), has won the “Best Technical Award” in the International Design Award (IDeA) 2025 Competition held at the Tunku Laksamana Abdul Jalil Hall, Ibrahim Sultan Polytechnic.

By incorporating the light-emitting diode (LED) strips into clothing designs as a safety measure when playing sports at night and to add a modern and stylish touch, KKSB claims that the design is the outcome of a collaboration with the Electrical Technology Unit (SKE) of KKSB.

These student projects were part of the two-day competition, which began on 7th May with a judge evaluation session and included a stage demonstration and judging session the following day.

The Islamic Fashion Institute Indonesia, Iloilo Science and Technology University, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, and Paramadina University were among the 67 international TVET institutions that participated in IDeA 2025.

In the final stage, which was judged by renowned fashion designer Zalmi Zulkafli, only 15 finalists from 8 POLYCC institutions and 7 public and private higher learning institutions from both inside and outside the country, competed under the theme “Excellence in Johor’s Heritage Fashion Through TVET Education, Elevating Johor Thread Fabric as a Global Identity.”

Taking place from 6th – 8th May 2025, IDeA 2025 was one of the four main events of the IDeA TVET Festival (FESTiVET). TVET is being elevated through the implementation of other initiatives, including the Lifelong Learning Carnival, the VISCOM 40 Exhibition, and the Let’s Enrol to POLYCC Southern Zone Pavilion.

Johor State Education and Information Committee Chairman Aznan bin Tamin was present to preside over the programme’s closing ceremony, accompanied by Haji Ulaimi bin Yahya, Director of Ibrahim Sultan Polytechnic (PIS), Pasir Gudang.
