Asean Tourism Forum (ATF) 2024 in Laos Promoting Johor

Under the branding Majestic Johor, the state is vying to be a preferred tourism destination in the country

The State Government through Tourism Johor is committed to proactively continue initiatives to promote various tourist attractions through the branding of Majestic Johor by participating in the international tourism forum Asean Tourism Forum (ATF) 2024 in Laos.

The Asean Tourism Forum (ATF) taking place from 23 to 27 January 2024 at the Lao ITEC Convention & Exhibition Centre is a platform and medium for the State Government to aggressively highlight and expand its promotional network to introduce the attractions and uniqueness of tourism destinations found in the state of Johor in addition to opportunities business to attract the interest of the international market, especially neighbouring countries in Asean.

The participation in this tourism promotion mission is seen as an initiative that will have an impact and opportunity in raising and further expanding the name of Johor as a preferred Asean tourism destination with high impact and value in the corners of the world. This effort is also a sign of support and encouragement towards the commitment to the national tourism industry in addition to coinciding with the pre-preparation steps for the state in planning the implementation of the Visit Johor 2026, which targets the attendance of 12 million tourists.

In preparation for intensifying the promotion and publicity campaign among the ASEAN countries, the State Government intends to offer itself by making the state of Johor the host and preferred location for the organisation of the ATF 2025 international conference where in 2025 it is Malaysia’s turn to host.

This offer is also an initiative of the State Government on the success of leading the APCW 2023 conference last November. With the convenience of the ‘Business Event’ facility available, as well as the wealth of this state which has a beautiful and interesting nature and historic heritage buildings that can attract tourists from all over the world.

The State Government delegation was led by Raven Kumar a/l Krishnasamy, Chairman of the Johor State Environment and Heritage Tourism Committee and several agencies including Tourism Johor, Perbadanan Taman Negara Johor, Desaru Coast, Holiday Inn Express and MATTA Johor Chapter were also present.
