When the government announced that the borders will reopen on the 1st of April, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has assured that all of its international airports are ready to handle an inflow of foreign travellers.

The airport operator has been working with authorities, including the Ministry of Health (MOH), to enhance the airport’s process flow, particularly for arrivals. “In doing so, customer input from the previous few months is also taken into account so that the passenger experience may be as seamless as possible while their wellness is protected,” it said in a statement.

In the same statement, Managing Director Datuk Iskandar Mizal Mahmood stated that “the effectiveness of safety processes at the airport is a critical emphasis area since it plays a significant part in creating a pleasant passenger-processing experience.”

MAHB has taken initiatives to assure airport preparedness, including the deployment of extra customer experience professionals on the ground, as well as the installation of more signs and chairs around the terminals for improved passenger convenience and comfort.

In addition, more than 22,000 airport employees have been fully immunised. The airport operator would like to urge all passengers and airport visitors to continue to follow all safety standards for the sake of the general public.

“We need to make sure they have a positive view of Malaysia from the minute they set foot on our territory, and this initial impression will be created at the airport.”

In terms of passenger traffic, MAHB is one of the world’s major airport operator groups. It administers and operates 39 Malaysian airports as well as one international airport in Istanbul, Turkey.

Malaysia has 39 airports, including five international airports, 16 domestic airports, and 18 short take-off and landing ports (STOLports). Kuala Lumpur International Airport, its flagship facility, is one of the region’s major aviation hubs.
