The state government hopes to finish five derelict projects and one abandoned housing project, totaling 1,776 units / RM682.66 million, by the end of the following year.

This will be done through the special state panel for derelict and abandoned projects, according to Jafni Shukor, chairman of the Housing and Local Government Committee.

This panel includes the Johor State Housing Development Corporation (PKPJ), 16 local governments, and all technical agencies.

Jafni estimated that once completed, the value of these derelict and abandoned projects would be RM1 billion by 2024.

Over the last two years, he said, the state government had successfully revived six dormant projects. These involved 1,073 residential units worth RM260.75 million. He added that the owners of a local abandoned project that had been renovated were anticipated to get their keys next month.
