The organisation of MSN 2023 is one of MOSTI’s efforts to realise STI culture by focusing on the development of quality science, technology, and innovation talents that are competitive in driving the growth of the Malaysian economy.

At the same time, the MSN programme is structured to attract primary and secondary school students to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects and then allow them to choose majors in STI-related fields.

Chang also explained that each programme under the MSN aims to involve various stakeholders, such as school students, college youth, higher education institutions, teachers, industry players, and the general public.

The National Science Week Carnival offers a variety of interactive content, such as exhibition parades, science demonstrations, and talks based on Science, Technology, and Innovation and according to the local community.

The carnival was successful in drawing more than 10,781 submissions from the neighbourhood’s schoolchildren, university students and the general public.

Various interesting STI-based activities were provided throughout the 2023 National Science Week Carnival at the Johor State level, including hands-on activities such as Solar Observation, Drone Challenge, Interactive Science Show, Robotics Activities, STEM Rocket DIY, Virtual Reality Planet and STI Pocket Talk.

There was also the participation of various agencies and institutions at the carnival including the Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia which showcased ‘All About Numbers’, and the use of chemicals by the Malaysian Chemistry Department and so on.

MOSTI aspires for strong cooperation to result in the growth of talented individuals, particularly in Malaysia’s STI sector.
