According to Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor, chairman of the State Housing and Local Government Committee, the state is tightening housing development oversight to ensure the successful delivery of 100,000 affordable homes by 2030.

At the first Plan, Design and Review Committee (PDRC) meeting, Mohd Jafni highlighted that every housing proposal will be rigorously examined to protect the public interest. The session, coordinated by Johor Housing Development Corporation (PKPJ), brought together representatives from 16 local authorities across 10 districts, along with key state agencies including PLANMalaysia Johor, the state Land and Mines Office, and the State Secretary’s Office.

During the meeting, 175 housing projects were reviewed, underscoring Johor’s strict adherence to policy controls and technical standards. The committee ensures projects align with the Rumah Mampu Milik Johor (RMMJ) scheme and the real purchasing power of Johoreans.

From 2022 to the fourth quarter of 2025, 20,212 RMMJ units have been completed, certified, and handed over to buyers. Current plans include an additional 41,731 units, all contributing toward the state’s long-term goal of 100,000 affordable homes by 2030.

Mohd Jafni said PDRC decisions are not purely technical, as they directly affect families, housing market stability, and sustainable urban and rural development. He added that Johor’s planning principles balance the interests of developers, market realities, and residents’ rights to safe and comfortable homes.

“With careful planning and strong coordination, Johor will continue driving a people-focused housing agenda in line with Johor Maju aspirations,” he said.
