Four Points by Sheraton Desaru has partnered with Leading Innovative Technologies & Systems Sdn Bhd (LiTS) and installed the Flexi EV Charging system in its parking facility. This will commemorate Four Points by Sheraton Desaru’s the first Marriott International Hotel in the Southern Region in Malaysia to offer such services – paving the way for likeminded organisations to follow suit.
This implementation marks a milestone towards Marriott International’s commitment in taking part in sustainability efforts and welcoming environmentally conscious travellers with their electric vehicles (EV). With the increase in guests travelling by electric vehicles, the Hotel had taken a proactive approach to provide this facility, making it convenient to charge vehicles directly at the property itself.
“We have observed the frequency of our valued guests enquiring on EV charging facility in the hotel since we opened our doors back in 2021, and we heard you. Right on time before the school break and festive seasons start, today commemorates the start of the facility in the hotel premises that will leave your worry on where to charge your vehicle behind,” said Maverick Loh, General Manager of Four Points by Sheraton Desaru.
Loh also added that the installation of the facility goes in line with Marriott International’s Serve 360 goals in sustaining responsible operations to reduce environmental footprint and preparing for the rise of EV usage travellers as well as being a destination EV charger points.
The hotel allocates three (3) parking bays equipped with alternating-current (AC) chargers
with Type 2 plugs that supplies up to22 kilowatts (KW) of input and output power for 24 hours daily.
“Apart from providing cashless parking system, we offer EV charging facility when we realised that this charging infrastructure are still less in the market. Therefore, we started off with destination EV chargers at hotels that will give extra services for EV guests. Soon we will be expanding the facilities in other Marriott hotels in Malaysia and all appointed destination EV chargers will be added into Plug Share,” said Lai Thiam Sin, Chief Executive Officer of Leading Innovative Technologies & Systems Sdn Bhd (LiTS) during the installation of EV charging facility at Four Points by Sheraton Desaru.
EV drivers will need to install the Flexi Parking app, available for download from Google Play, the App Store, and the App Gallery, before using the charging stations. RM0.60 cents will be charged per minute, per vehicle and the user will need to have a minimum of RM10 credit in the mobile app.
