The joyful season is here and what makes it even special is that this season we are able to congregate with friends, and family members, far and near alike, much better than the last two merry-making holidays that we had.
Of course, the time of giving gifts is also here and while it can be defined as a different category from food, I have this absolute idea of giving your friends and family the time of their life, salvaging some of the best food in town.
This idea came across to me while I was having so much fun, munching on some desserts after having Roast Beef on my plate during the Renaissance Hotel Johor Bahru’s Festive Treats Dinner Buffet. My cells were happy to receive so much protein from the satisfying texture of crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, baked Salmon Puff. That was my poor allergic soul’s way of enjoying seafood while my friends were sliding fresh oysters from the Seafood on Ice corner, complete with zesty lime and lemon. The jealousy went away when we all came together in unison for the delectable Roasted Beef Sirloin with special Cranberry and classic Black Pepper sauces on the side.
Freshly cooked pasta, customised to your liking is also available next to the carvery and roasts section.
There would definitely be one out of the group, rain or shine, who prefers local food or some popular fusion. Fret not, as the steaming Saudi Arabian Turkey Kabsa with Cashew Nuts is just right for the celebratory mood! If rice is the only way to call it a complete dining experience, the line of fragrant jasmine rice is ready to be paired with large, Spicy Prawns and some mouthwatering Air Asam Roasted Beef Fillet that can be paired with kampung dishes like the creamy Masak Lemak or the zesty Asam Pedas.
No Christmas meal is complete without Gingerbread cookies and a good Yule Cake for more yuletide festivity. The Christmas Fruit Cake served with sensational frosting is one of the best I’ve ever had and could easily go for more slices but had to save some space for the rich goodness of Baked Cheesecake!
End the buffet meal with fruits and freshly-pressed fruit juice or enjoy ice cream by the scoop including local favourite of Potong Ice Cream.
