To boost employment prospects and economic mobility within the community, Jementah State Assemblywoman (ADUN), Ng Kor Sim, has announced a plan to provide free assistance to the B40 community in his district in obtaining B2 motorcycle licences.

“Many Jementah residents, particularly young people, have expressed the need for a motorcycle licence to facilitate their employment as delivery drivers, couriers and other jobs requiring skills and a motorcycle licence,” she said in an official statement.

This project was started in response to popular demand. In addition to offering mobility, the B2 motorcycle licence creates room for a number of business prospects, particularly in the expanding delivery industry, Ng explained.

She stated that although there is a growing need for jobs like food delivery and courier in the gig economy, many young people in rural areas are still hampered by their lack of a valid licence because of financial limitations.

With a total estimated cost of about RM500 per person, each participant will receive complete assistance with training, exams, and associated fees.

Ng also thanked Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook for his unwavering support of the initiative, which is being carried out in partnership with the Malaysian Ministry of Transport.

“I sincerely appreciate Anthony Loke and the Ministry of Transport’s dedication to making this programme a reality for the benefit of the people of Jementah,” she said.

Ng also stressed that her approach has always been based on the needs of the people and the reality at the grassroots level, without waiting for the election season to act.

Candidates must be Malaysian nationals between the ages of 16 and 35, enrolled in school or a university, in the B40 group or their dependants, in good physical and mental health, without a driving record, and not on any blacklists maintained by the court, JPJ, or PDRM.

The Jementah Assemblyman’s People’s Service Centre can be reached at 012-3605800 for any additional questions.

She added that she is open to growing similar programmes in the future, contingent on the programme’s response and efficacy.

“This programme is a first step in assisting youth in establishing independent lives and careers. “We want to start them off right,” she stated.
